PointsPlus – How to Spend Them?

I have 15 PointsPlus left today and am in a bit of a quandary about how to spend them.  It’s like being a newbie, again.  I do know that the healthy muffin I ate yesterday for 2 POINTS is now 3 PointsPlus.  Same goes for the light beer.  I was happy to see that the small apple at lunch was 0 PointsPlus.  This is going to be an exciting new adventure in food tracking.

A Facebook friend from England is frustrated because all the Weight Watchers food packaging still has the old POINTS system.  I feel fortunate to be using Weight Watchers Online – the food value database has been my tracking savior.  I found the PointsPlus food conversion to be a bit kludgy, but it’s “one and done.”

I was just reading one of the Weight Watchers articles, “The PointsPlus™ Program and WeightWatchers.com: 15 Essentials.  I found #14 to be a great new feature.  There are those days when you work out more than usual, are hungrier, and would like to apply those activity points – hurray – now we can!
14. You can now choose to swap activity PointsPlus values before your weekly PointsPlus Allowance
Previously, your activity POINTS values didn’t start being swapped for food POINTS values until you’d used up your weekly POINTS Allowance. Now, you can choose to swap your activity PointsPlus values first, and even choose to “use or lose them,” meaning that if you don’t swap activity PointsPlus values on the day you earn them, they won’t roll over to the following day. Just change the settings in your Plan Manager. Remember that neither can be rolled over from week to week.

What do you think of the new program?  Share your impressions of PointsPlus.
